It can be used for mounting shoe mount accessories to a bracket, tripod, lightstand, or any accessory that features a 1/4""-20 screw. Unlike a hot shoe, the cold shoe has no electronic connection to a camera - it's used simply to hold an accessory.

11/13/2013Rating: I have bought vello before for accessories like cables and invervalometers but not a stand. I had bought a metal one but it scratched the flash bracket so I decided to try plastic, It is lightweight and feels very durable it will easily hold the flash it is also cheaper than metal so this is a win win.
