The dedicated Vello HR-2 Lens Hood (52mm Screw-On) is specifically designed for use with Nikon's 55mm f/1.2 Ai, 50mm f/1.4 AF, 50mm f/1.8 AF, 50mm f/1.8D AF Lenses.
Lens hoods are primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. A dedicated lens hood is designed to perfectly match the specific focal length of the lens it was designed for. Moreover, this hood features a non-glare matte finish on the interior surface to further prevent or limit lens flare. And since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.

Versatile, flexible, affordable
1/19/2014Rating: I really like how flexible this lens hood is. It literally folds back and right over the lens barrels when you are not using it. It wont stick out at all. Also, I have it for over a year and the rubber did not disintegrate at all. Great functionally, and for blocking out unwanted light. Great constructions. Great price. Just a great buy overall, what more do you want?
Oh, and also I got a million compliments from fellow photographers.
